About Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer
Item Code: SMSR
We are offering Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer. The availability is in six sizes (a to f) with nominal ratios of 5:1, 13:1, & 20:1. The gears are helical and are manufactured in case carburizing alloy steels with a hard wear layer and a softer core so as to resist shock loads. The Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer Gearbox are facilitated with metallic double lip oil seals. These help blocking out the dirt from the outside. All gear units are tested for gear crack, noise, and leaks for a trouble free operation. The gear units have an advanced tooth design to give higher power to weight ratio for the same size gear box. Advantage of modifications to specific customer specification, ratios, configurations and width of gear units.
Features:
- Durability
- Shock Proof
- Corrosion resistance

Incorporating a torque arm and optional backstop, it prevents rotation reversal, making it an ideal choice for conveyor and heavy-duty belt-driven systems. Its sturdy build, supported by painted or anti-corrosive coatings, ensures lasting performance in harsh environments.
Customizable Performance & ProtectionSelect from standard reduction ratios (5:1, 13:1, 20:1), or request custom configurations to achieve precise output speeds. The sealed design protects internal components from dust and moisture, supporting reliable operation across mining, quarrying, and industrial settings. Splash lubrication with oil filling provision reduces maintenance and guarantees smooth, low-noise performance.
FAQs of Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer:
Q: How is the Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer installed onto equipment?
A: The speed reducer is shaft-mounted, typically fixed to the drive shaft using a torque arm for stabilization. This mounting method streamlines the installation process and requires minimal alignment, making it suitable for conveyor and belt-driven applications.
Q: What reduction ratios are available for this speed reducer, and can they be customized?
A: Standard reduction ratios offered include 5:1, 13:1, and 20:1. If different output speeds are needed, customized reduction ratios can be provided to match specific requirements, ensuring optimal system performance.
Q: When should the oil level be checked or replaced in the splash lubrication system?
A: The splash lubrication system with oil filling provision should be checked periodically according to manufacturers recommendations. Oil should be topped up or replaced based on operational hours and environmental conditions to maintain smooth gear operation and longevity.
Q: Where is this speed reducer best utilized within industrial settings?
A: This speed reducer is ideal for use in conveyor drives, mining operations, quarry plants, and material handling systems, as well as any belt-driven equipment requiring controlled speed and torque transmission.
Q: What is the process for selecting the right model size and bore diameter?
A: Model sizes range from SMR-1 to SMR-8, and bore diameters from 25 mm to 100 mm. Selection is based on input power requirements, output speed, reduction ratio, and shaft dimensions. Consultation with a supplier ensures compatibility and efficient operation.
Q: How does the sealed protection benefit operations in harsh environments?
A: The sealed construction protects the speed reducer from dust and moisture ingress, enabling reliable performance in challenging conditions such as mining and quarry sites, and reducing maintenance frequency.
Q: What are the benefits of low noise operation for industrial applications?
A: Operating below 75 dB, the speed reducer contributes to safer and more comfortable working environments, especially in industries where large machinery runs continuously and noise control is essential.
